The Breakdown

Luigi’s is a traditional Italian restaurant downtown that happens to be a few steps away from my office so I had to see if the food matched the hype. Apparently, this is the go-to spot for many celebrities when they visit Augusta during the Augusta National Golf Tournament. My coworkers and I went for a team lunch (we do this quite often) because many of them have never been like me.

I got the open-faced meatball sandwich. This was my first time ordering an open-faced sandwich and I think it might be a while before I try another. The sandwich was good, but it was drowned in tomato sauce so it was difficult to eat this without getting your hands messy. Since I had an important meeting to go to after this, I wish I would’ve ordered something different. I did enjoy it tho. The service was also quick and courteous.

I wish they were open for multiple days of the week instead of just the weekend. The restaurant itself is decorated in a way that made me feel I was walking into a time capsule – which I kind of liked because I love a good theme. They have photos of celebrity customers and jukeboxes. It definitely has a vintage vibe that I liked.

How to get 5 stars

I think they should definitely try to extend their hours into the workweek. The restaurant also kind of had a slight cigarette smell to it (or at least that’s what I thought it was – a very faint smell). Because I’m not a culinary expert, I think having photos of some of their options on the menu would help newbies like me figure out exactly what they would want without having to ask so many questions to the server.

I wouldn’t mind coming back here. Just probably not too soon.

Where should I go next?
